The Elements of Broadlough

Lying on the brackish marshes of the Murrough Wetlands, the rarely-occurring Mineral Aluvial Soil of the estate, with its exceptionally high organic material content, creates a unique barley that can only be found here.

The fresh sea breeze which drifts across the Broadlough Estate barley crops lends a distinctively moreish salinity to the finish of our whisky. When it comes to our mash, only the Wicklow Spring Water is used to ensure the purest of flavour.

The coastal location of the estate also brings a temperate maritime climate, resulting in tender, plump barley kernels with lower levels of proteins & Free Amino Nitrogens, resulting in greatly increased stability of flavour.

Finally, in its last phase, our whiskey is sheparded through the distillation process by our craft distiller, who regulates every step of the process, extracting from the barely the robust & complex flavour profile that could only be Broadlough.
